A remake of a Norwegian suspense/action film set amongst warring tribes in ancient Scandanavia, Pathfinder is a tale that will be re-examined by 20th Century Fox as they have brought on Marcus Nispel to direct from a screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis.

Rather than take place in Norway, the tale will be set in ancient North America, with skirmishes erupting between the Native Americans who frequent the land and the Viking explorers who have just arrived. A Viking child is left behind, but the Native American tribe adopts him even despite his striking strawberry blonde hair, raising him as one of their own. Eventually, a Viking raid destroys the young man's village, and he becomes his adopted people's savior as he assists them in fighting the enemy.

Thus far, cast negotiations have gone forward with Karl Urban and Ken Watanabe, though nothing is yet set in stone. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
