Will Ferrell has cracked audiences up in stuff like Anchorman and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. He'll look to maintain that comedy streak as he stars in another sports comedy - this time set in one of the most unexpected places.

Ferrell stars as Chazz Michael Michaels, a figure skater who is insanely competitive to the point that when he is on the World Championships podium with hated rival Jimmy MacElroy (Jon Heder), the two wind up in a knock down, drag-out brawl. As a result, they are banned from the sport for life.

Somehow, though, Chazz and Jimmy find a loophole that will get them back into the sport. The catch is, they must skate as a pair. Naturally, there will be plenty of disagreements, escapades, and homoerotic misunderstandings along the way as their coach, played by Craig T. Nelson, tries to get them back in the game. It won't be easy, either. There's already a popular, talented duo at the top of their game and they're not prepared to lose to two *men*. This couple is played by real life husband and wife Will Arnett and Amy Poehler.

Ferrell has seen his star rise in recent years, though the results for his comedies can tend to be up and down. Blades of Glory looks like it ought to be directed by Ferrell's Anchorman/Talladega Nights helmer Adam McKay, but it's instead relying on relative newcomers Josh Gordon and Will Speck to carry the day. As for Heder, this movie actually appears to give him a chance to break away from loveable loser mode to some degree and stretch his comedy chops. If marketed well, Blades of Glory has a great chance to click with audiences. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
