The film that caused the biggest bidding war at this year's Sundance Film Festival (and was eventually won by Focus Features for $10 million) is headed for theaters this August.

Dana Marschz (Steve Coogan, a famed television actor in the United Kingdom, but largely unknown to North American audiences though he was in A Night at the Museum) is a failed actor and an even worse high school drama teacher. When he is informed that the theater department will be shut down he becomes determined to save it. He sets out to write an original play, but all he can come up with is a sequel to William Shakespeare's Hamlet. As a musical, of course.

Catherine Keener, Amy Poehler, David Arquette and Elisabeth Shue (as Elisabeth Shue) co-star in a film co-written and directed by Andy Fleming (The Craft, Dick, Nancy Drew). The trailer seems to be an equal opportunity offender (there's also been a red band one released), and we're looking forward to it.

Obviously hoping for a Little Miss Sunshine type of performance, Focus Features will be releasing this in late August hoping that positive buzz will carry it through the fall. (Tim Briody/BOP)
