I'm ignoring you. I'm ignoring you. Lalalalalala.

On the Big Board
Position Staff In Brief
36/46 Les Winan It's interesting, but pretty incomprehensible story-wise. The music sure is awesome though.
64/214 Max Braden Blanchett may resemble Dylan, but her voice is so odd that I kept imagining Anton Yelchin doing the part.

Digg Button
Todd Haynes has established himself as a unique directorial talent with projects such as the medical thriller Safe, the surreal Velvet Goldmine and the Academy Award nominated Douglas Sirk homage Far from Heaven. Never one to rest on his laurels, Haynes continues to expand his horizons with ever more ambitious and singular movies. His newest is I'm Not There, a film that has six different actors portraying rock icon Bob Dylan as a series of ever-evolving personae. The performers involved are Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Marcus Carl Franklin, Richard Gere, Heath Ledger and Ben Whishaw.

People who have had the opportunity to screen the film have noted that it is an entirely new take on the biopic.

This is actually a movie that is several years in the making. Not only did Haynes meticulously craft the screenplay over a long time period, but Dylan's son Jesse also approached the director to coordinate the musical and biographical rights. The song's title comes from one of the best-known and most highly regarded outtakes to emerge over Dylan's career.

From all appearances, I'm Not There should be a must-see for fans of Dylan. Given its singular story-telling technique, it's probably a target for those who like a challenge as well. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
