This film is set in Knoxville, Tennessee, a city with which I am well familiar since I live there. It sits smack in the middle of the Smoky Mountains and boasts a downtown where a noticeable monument is the Sunsphere, once made famous in an episode of the Simpsons. It's also the home of Johnny Knoxville, who stars in this movie that is centered in the town where people might have known him growing up as Phillip Clapp.
The dark comedy centers on a man named, as the title might indicate, Daltry Calhoun. He's the owner of a once lucrative golfing empire, and he's struggling to try to bring it back around to profitability. Suddenly, though, things are thrown awry when his estranged 14-year-old daughter is unexpectedly left in his care by her mother (Elizabeth Banks). The girl is a gifted musician, and will present certain challenges to a man who had been heavily centered on other things.
Along with Knoxville, Juliette Lewis will play his love interest, David Koechner (Anchorman) will play his right-hand man, and Kick Gurry will play a golf expert from Australia.
