Diane Lane got her Bridget Jones on in her last outing, Under the Tuscan Sun. And she liked it so much that she has chosen another project about a 40ish woman experiencing dating angst.
The project, Must Love Dogs, is a theatrical adaptation of the novel of the same title. The story is as charming as they come. A divorced woman who has recently escaped from Mr. Wrong is being pressured by her closeknit family to date again. Unexcited by the prospect of this, she grudgingly places an ad with a dating service. When she shows up to meet the 50-something man who had liked her ad, she is shocked to realize it's her father.
Jaded by this, the woman tries to ditch the notion of dating services altogether, but her family will have none of it. Her second selection offers a weird description. He seems to think of himself as a young Harrison Ford lookalike. But he won't date anyone unless they love dogs. Lane's character, Sarah Hurlihy, is intrigued but currently canine-less. She borrows her brother's Saint Bernard and sets off on the misadventure of a lifetime. (David Mumpower/BOP)
