Wanted: TV quizzes
Over the past few years, we've built up a catalog of nearly
500 television trivia quizzes. We've run quizzes on everything from individual episodes of shows to TV theme songs. At the heart of this collection, though, are quizzes for an individual season of a television program. Over the years, we've received several contributions of such quizzes from our readers.
With the start of the new TV season, we're once again putting out the call for contributions of quizzes for TV series.
It's easy to do a quiz on a TV series. The length of most of our quizzes are in the range of 20-30 questions,
and there are aroung 20 episodes for most TV series seasons. So, it takes just 1 or 2 questions for each episode,
and the quiz is complete. Using the
Quiz-o-Matic, it's easy to compile the quiz as the season progresses.
Doing a quiz is also a great way to share your enthusiasm about the show and to prove your mastery of the TV program.
Below is a
*partial* list of shows for which we'd eventually like to run quizzes. See a title below that you'd like to try?
Great,
just shoot us an email and it's yours. If there's a title not listed below for which you'd like to run a quiz for, even better.
Let us
know and we'll reserve it for you.

A plea to celebrities
Correspondence from the This Is So Last Week Newsroom:
Dear celebrities (from basic cable reality show contestants/cast members and up),
You strive for pop culture relevancy and coverage from the various 'media' outlets in the world. We have fulfilled our end of the bargain by following your every move, despite how minute, yet 99 percent of you have not lived up to your part over the last three week. Here are some suggestions:
- Musicians: Take a page from Kings of Leon and cancel a show for a ridiculous reason and not the 'need more time to practice' line that everyone knows is code for poor ticket sales. Get into a fight with a fan. Check into rehab for an addiction to Count Chocula (Sorry but a lame Bret Michaels pot bust is just that...lame). Cover a song on the opposite side of the musical spectrum and upload to YouTube. (Still waiting for Justin Bieber's cover of Drowning Pool's Let the Bodies Hit the Floor).
- Actors/Actresses: With so many of you on hand at Comic Con, why is it that the most interesting/newsworthy thing that happened didn't involve anyone famous (the stabbing prior to a panel). Thank you to Robert Downey, Jr. having the cojones to joke about it probably before the blood had been mopped up. Ladies, look at the dress Blake Lively wore to the convention and call her stylist. We need more of that. See 'Musicians' for universal suggestions.
- Reality stars: Have a breakdown, break up, dust up, get arrested, start a feud with a cast member that we also don't care about but since you have no discernible talents, you need to do something or fade into obscurity and back to your job waiting tables or working at Forever 21 in Des Moines.
- Models: Well...you guys just keep doing what you are doing. (i.e. being pretty and 'marrying' actors that are in denial)
Time to get busy because it is already Tuesday and we have Thursday deadline.
Thanks and God bless,
SLW staff

Firefly quizzes
HowWellDoYouKnow has featured quizzes on some of our
favorite TV shows in the past.
In January 2008, we started a something different, which we're now in position to complete.
Joss Whedon's work in television has attracted a legion of loyal - sometimes rabidly so - fans. Included among these are the staff of HowWellDoYouKnow and our parent site, Box Office Prophets. Any discussion of brilliant-but-cancelled series has to include Whedon's space western Firefly. The ambitious series only lasted 14 episodes, but holds a special place in the heart of its fans.
Whereas previously, we've done one or two quizzes for an entire season of a television series, for Firefly, we're presenting one quiz per episode. We'll publish a new quiz every day or so until we cover the entire series.
We hope fans of this television gem enjoy taking the quizzes as much as we did assembling them.

Emailing quizzes
Responding to possibly dozens of requests, we've added the ability for visitors to easily email a link for their favorite HWDYK quiz to a friend.

Celebrity quizzes
Today we are downright thrilled to offer the first of our quizzes on individual celebrities. As our first subject, we chose
Tom Cruise, a figure who, for better or worse, has dominated pop culture for the past two decades. We will feature celebrity quizzes every few weeks. If there's a star on who you're the authority, why not take a stab at authoring a quiz yourself for publication here at HowWellDoYouKnow.com? See the
suggest/create page for more information.

Welcome to HowWellDoYouKnow.com
Since 2001,
BoxOfficeProphets.com has sought to bring our readers the best in film, entertainment and popular culture. In May 2005, we added HowWellDoYouKnow, a weekly series of quizzes. Primarily focusing on movies at the outset, and later incorporating our favorite television series, HWDYK has tested our readers' knowledge on everything from Casablanca to Survivor, from Raiders of the Lost Ark to Veronica Mars. We've covered Oscar trivia as well as Movie Posters. In November 2006, we added This Is So Last Week, our quizzes covering the last seven days in popular culture.
2008 brings the launch of HowWellDoYouKnow.com, our site devoted solely to these quizzes. The launch of the site brings the following new features:
- Site login. After you register and log in, you'll be able to preserve the scores you take from this point forward.
- Easier navigation between quizzes.
- Categorization of quizzes. We've grouped quizzes by tags, so you'll be able to view all action film quizzes, all tests on animated films.
- The display of overall statistics for all quizzes. You'll be able to see which tests are easiest and hardest, and how your scores stack up against the aggregate scores of all visitors.
- A page on which you can suggest a topic for a new quiz, or, if you're brave enough, instructions on how you can create your own quiz for publication on HowWellDoYouKnow.com
In the near future, you'll see:
- Quizzes on trivia pertaining to your favorite celebrities.
- A weekly sports quiz after the fashion of This Is So Last Week.
- The ability to form leagues with your friends, so you can compare your knowledge with each other.
We hope you enjoy the site. If you have a question, comment or idea regarding HowWellDoYouKnow, be sure to let us know by using the
contact page.
