Universal eyes vehicle for Verbinski in spec script

Universal bought the rights to an untitled spec script from scribe Michael Gilio. The studio plans to develop the project as a potential vehicle for director Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean). The story is about a retired rancher who responds to a phone solicitation that erases his savings. Gilio's lone directing credit is 2001's Kwik Stop. He also wrote a script titled Black Hole, but it never made it further than Hollywood's Black List.
