Tommy Boy director takes reins
Pete Segal (Get Smart) will handle helming duties for Little Fockers, the third installment of the popular Meet the Parents franchise. When Steve Carell decided to team with Tina Fey in Date Night for Fox, Get Smart 2 plans were put on hold, and Segal's schedule was freed up a bit.

Universal adds momentum to Meet the Fockers sequel
Universal is finally putting some shape into the Meet the Fockers sequel, Little Fockers, which the studio hopes to start shooting as early as this summer or fall. John Hamburg has been tapped to pen the screenplay after Larry Stuckey's earlier draft. Jay Roach, who was loosely attached to direct, will not helm. Finally, Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson are in negotiations to star.

Universal to Make Fockers Sequel
Universal Pictures has officially greenlit Little Fockers, the third film in the lucrative comedy franchise after Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers. The news was ignited by the studio renewing its deal with Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal's Tribeca Prods. for two more years. The producers are working with Jay Roach to again direct, and also hope to bring back the rest of the cast which includes De Niro, Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, Blythe Danner, Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand. Larry Stuckey, a former Roach assistant, will write the script. The title was once thought to be Meet the Little Focker. The first two films in the series have made over $800 million combined worldwide.
