Trio to remake RKO film noir
Michael Douglas (King of California), Amber Tamblyn (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2) and Jesse Metcalfe (ABC's Desperate Housewives) signed on to star in Beyond a Reasonable Doubt, a Peter Hyams-directed remake of an RKO film noir. The story centers on an overzealous reporter (Metcalfe) who frames himself for murder in order to point out the dangers of circumstantial evidence and to try to show that a district attorney (Douglas) is manipulating evidence in order to gain convictions. It all goes fine until a friend of the reporter's - the only person who can exonerate him - is also killed.

Reyes has Reasonable Doubt
Franc Reyes is set to write and direct a remake of Beyond a Reasonable Doubt for Regency Enterprises. The movie was one of the last English-language projects directed by Fritz Lang. It starred Dana Andrews, Joan Fontaine, Sidney Blackmer, Arthur Franz, Philip Bourneuf and Ed Binns. The story centers on an overzealous reporter who frames himself for murder in order to point out the dangers of circumstantial evidence and to try to show that a district attorney is manipulating evidence in order to gain convictions. It all goes fine until a friend of the reporter's - the only person who can exonerate him - is also killed.
