Universal wants Jose Padilha to direct
Universal tapped Jose Padilha to helm its international thriller, The Sigma Protocol. The director, whose Elite Squad claimed the Golden Bear at last year's Berlin International Film Festival, will plan for a summer shoot with European locations if signed.

Iron Man writers to handle Ludlum adaptation
Iron Man scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway were hired by Universal to adapt The Sigma Protocal, the final novel from the late writer of the Jason Bourne series, Robert Ludlum. The story is about a young banker who is threatened by a secret organization, Sigma, after he uncovers that it manipulates the global economy.

Writers onboard for The Sigma Protocol
Universal Pictures has hired Michael Ferris and John Brancato to adapt Robert Ludlum's The Sigma Protocol. The story revolves around an American economist who finds himself the target of professional assassins. A U.S. intelligence agent investigates his case, but soon finds herself discredited. Thus, she joins the protagonist and they head out to uncover a vast multinational conspiracy wherein the global economy and world events are being manipulated.
