Imagi eyes October 23rd release
Imagi Entertainment's Astro Boy is officially on track to be released in theaters on October 23rd. The studio temporarily suspended the production last month. all but 23 of the studio's staffers have been called back to complete the movie.

U.S. adaptation back on track
The U.S. adaptation of Astro Boy is back on track after production was temporarily suspended by producer Imagi Entertainment. The company shut down production for a week because bridge financing hadn't come through on time. The financing is now here, however, which will carry the company until private equity company funding arrives next week.

Kristen Bell joins manga project
Kristen Bell and Matt Lucas signed on for the CG feature Astroboy. Other voice talents include Nicolas Cage, Donald Sutherland and Freddie Highmore. The project, based on a manga story, is slated for an Oct. 23, 2009 U.S. release.
