Val Kilmer, Xzibit land big roles in Herzog update
A slew of actors will join Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes in Wener Herzog's cop drama Bad Lieutenant, an update of the 1992 classic. Val Kilmer, Fairuza Balk, Jennifer Coolidge, Vondie Curtis Hall, Shawn Hatosy, Denzel Whitaker and Xzibit joined the cast, with Kilmer taking on the role as Cage's partner and Xzibit the villain.

Nicolas Cage goes Bad
Werner Herzog's update of the 1992 cult classic Bad Lieutenant landed its first star: Nicolas Cage. The vet actor will portray the lead, who happens to be a drug- and sex-addicted corrupt cop. TV police show scribe Billy Finkelstein will handle scripting duties. Production is expected to begin in July.
