MGM moves Tom Cruise flick to day after Christmas
MGM bumped Valkyrie back to 2008. The film, starring Tom Cruise, will bow on Dec. 26, instead of February 2009 like the studio announced in April. The move was allegedly made for purely commercial reasons.

UA bumps World War II thriller to Prez Weekend
United Artists said it will delay the release of the Tom Cruise-toplined Valkyrie, a World War II thriller, to Feb. 13, 2009. The studio said the recent exit of two other films -- The Pink Panther 2 and The Wolfman -- from Presidents Day weekend prompted the change. The film, to be directed by Bryan Singer, is based on a true story involving a plan to murder Adolf Hitler. The cast also includes Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy and Tom Wilkinson.
