Picturehouse Buys the Orphanage
Picturehouse has obtained the U.S. distribution rights to The Orphanage, a Spanish-language thriller from director J.A. Bayona. It was written by Sergio G. Sanchez and the list of producers includes Oscar nominee Guillermo del Toro. The story is about a woman named Laura who purchases her old childhood orphanage in hopes of restoring and reopening the facility. She hopes to make it a refuge for disabled children. There, she discovers that the environment awakens her son's fantasy and imaginination, leading to something disturbing.
