Brit Garfield Added to Lions Cast

British actor Andrew Garfield has nabbed one of the lead roles in United Artists' ensemble drama Lions for Lambs. Robert Redford is directing the movie, which follows three plotlines: a congressman involved with a journalist; a professor who tries to inspire one of his students; and a couple soldiers wounded in Afghanistan. Stars of the film include Redford, Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep. It will be Garfield's feature film debut. He recently won a pair of theatrical awaards in England for best newcomer.

Luke is a Lion for Lambs

Derek Luke has joined the cast of Robert Redford's drama Lions for Lambs. The actor will play one of two soldiers cut off from the rest of their platoon in Afghanistan. This becomes the catalyst for several connected storylines. Others in the cast include Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep, Redford and Michael Pena.

Cruise, Redford, Streep are Lions for UA

Tom Cruise has decided that his first acting role for United Artists, since he and partner Paula Wagner joined to revive the fledgling company for MGM, will be in Lions for Lambs. The drama will be directed by Robert Redford and will also co-star Redford and Meryl Streep. Matthew Carnahan wrote the script, which includes three interconnected stories. In one, Cruise will play a congressman involved with a journalist (Streep). In another, Redford will be an idealistic professor working to inspire one of his students. In the third, a couple of American soldiers are wounded; one of them is Redford's former student. Production on the movie will begin in early 2007.
