Fox to Tackle the Blind Side
After a bidding war, Twentieth Century Fox has obtained the film rights to The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game. The book is Moneyball author Michael Lewis' latest nonfiction sports expose. It was just published, but interest was sparked after an excerpt was printed in the New York Times Magazine that focused on a troubled young football player from Memphis. His enormous size and ability attracted the kindness of a wealthy couple who took him in and nourished him, athletically and academically. The man, Michael Oher, is now the starting left tackle at Ole Miss. The book's title comes from the left tackle's important role of protecting the quarterback's "blind side" from opposing defensive players.
