Universal Owns the Night
Universal has obtained the domestic distribution rights to We Own the Night. The studio had previously obtained rights to certain foreign countries, including England, Germany, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Austria and Switzerland. The film stars Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix about police fighting the Russian mob in 1980s New York.

Walken Owns Night
Christopher Walken and Eva Mendes will star alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg in We Own the Night. James Gray is writing and directing the film, which has Walken playing the patriarch of a police family. One son follows in his footsteps, but the other one takes a different path and becomes manager of a club that is controlled by the Russian mafia. Mendes will play the a love interest.

Stars ready for Night
Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg will star in We Own the Night, a drama from 2929 Prods. James Gray will direct from his own screenplay, which follows a 1980 struggle between some New York cops and a Russian mob that targeted their families. The NYPD was then prompted to hang "We Own the Night" banners in precinct houses and attempt to heighten their protection efforts. Wahlberg and Phoenix will play siblings in a cop-dominated family. Phoenix will play a black sheep who manages a Russian mob's nightclub.
