Ian McShane has been cast in We Are Marshall as the father of one of the victims, who also serves as a university board member. McShane has received much critical praise for his work as foul-mouthed saloon owner Al Swearengen in the HBO hit Deadwood.

McConaughey plays football
McG will direct Matthew McConaughey in an as-yet untitled drama about the 1970 Marshall University football team tragedy. The film is being handled by Warner Bros.
The movie follows the 1970 plane crash that killed almost the entire football team and coaching staff of the West Virginia university. Jamie Linden wrote the screenplay.
