Rush and Owen are Golden
Geoffrey Rush and Clive Owen have signed on to star in The Golden Age, the Working Title/Universal Pictures sequel to Elizabeth. Cate Blanchett will reprise the role of Queen Elizabeth I, for which she received an Academy Award nomination. Director Shekhar Kapur will also return. The screenplay was written by William Nicholson and Michael Hurst. This movie will center on the relationship between Elizabeth and Sir Walter Raleigh, a role that will be played by Owen.
