ThinkFilm tells Till story
ThinkFilm has added another documentary to its distribution repertoire by acquiring North American rights to The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till. Keith Beauchamp directed the film about the brutal murder of Till in 1955, which was one of the factors that set the civil rights movement in motion. When he allegedly whistled at a white woman, the teen was tortured, beated and thrown into the Tallahatchie River. A trial of the accused murderers followed, but it was allegedly a sham.
The documentary contains testimony from witnesses who have previously never made statements. As a result, the Justice Department recently reopened the case. The movie will debut on August 17th in New York City, followed by a national rollout that will coincide with the 50th anniversary of Till's murder.
