History Boys move to big screen
Fox Searchlight will partner with DNA Films and the BBC to bring the National Theater production of the Olivier-winning The History Boys to the big screen. The movie version will rely heavily on the same talent that was able to make the stage production such a success. Nicholas Hyter - the artistic director of London's National Theater - will helm from a screenplay by Alan Bennett. The movie's cast will include Richard Griffiths, Stephen Campbell Moore, Frances de la Tour, Clive Merrison, Sacha Dhawan, Samuel Anderson, Dominic Cooper, Andrew Knott, Samuel Barnett, Russell Tovey, Jamie Parker and James Corden.
The storyline centers around a classroom of clever, funny teenage boys and their relationships with their memorable English professor (Griffiths), a new professor who was hired to get an increase in test scores (Moore), a flustered history teacher (de la Tour) and a relentless headmaster (Merrison).
