Bateman goes to Emporium
Jason Bateman will join Natalie Portman and Dustin Hoffman in Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. Zach Helm is directing the fantasy film from his own screenplay. The story looks at a toy store owner who tries to raise the spirits of his sad store manager by giving her his shop. Bateman will play an accountant who is hired to assess the store's worth.

Hoffman enters world of Wonder
Dustin Hoffman has signed to star opposite Natalie Portman in Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. Zach Helm will direct the film for Mandate Pictures. In the film, Hoffman will play an owner of an eccentric toy store. He wants to help Portman's character escape her depression, and to that end, he plans to leave her the store.

Portman goes to the Emporium
Natalie Portman is set to star in the fantasy film Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, which Zach Helm is directing from his own screenplay. Described in Variety as a cross between Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Big, the movie will have Portman portraying the manager of a toy store that somehow seems to come to life when it is filled with the spirit of its owner. He's in failing health, though, and the manager wants him to turn the store over to her. However, her depression has infused the store with a grey appearance.
