Robinson has a Dream

Keith Robinson has signed on to play the composer C.C., brother of central character Effie, in the movie version of the Broadway musical Dreamgirls. Bill Condon is directing the film for DreamWorks/Paramount.

Glover finds his Dream

Danny Glover has signed on for a role in Dreamgirls for DreamWorks. Bill Condon is directing the film, which is based on the stage musical about the rise of a female musical singing group known as the Dreamettes. The story is a thinly veiled tale about the rise of the Supremes. Along with Glover, Beyonce Knowles, Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy have all been cast.

Foxx, Usher are Dream-y

Jamie Foxx and Usher have both signed on for the cast of director Bill Condon's Dreamgirls for DreamWorks. The adaptation of the stage musical already had Beyonce Knowles in the main role. Producers are also looking at Eddie Murphy to portray singer James "Thunder" Early. The musical is the thinly veiled story of the rise of the Supremes. Foxx will play the Svengali-type manager Curtis Taylor Jr., who leads the female singing group the Dreamettes to stardom. Usher will portray choreographer C.C. White. Condon wrote the screenplay for the film.

Beyonce is 'Dream'-y

Beyonce Knowles is in talks to star in DreamWorks' adaptation of the Broadway play Dreamgirls. Bill Condon (Chicago) is writing and directing the movie, which is a thinly-disguised adaptation of the story about the rise of Diana Ross and the Supremes.
