Amazing cast signings
Romola Garai, Michael Gambon and Rufus Sewell have all signed on to join the cast of director Michael Apted's Amazing Grace. Walden Media is producing the film. Ioan Gruffudd and Albert Finney already topline the story of British anti-slavery pioneer William Wilberforce.

Gruffudd is Amazing
Ioan Gruffudd has signed to play the lead role in Amazing Grace for director Michael Apted and Walden Media. Albert Finney will also join the cast. The story is based on the life of anti-slavery pioneer William Wilberforce, who will be portrayed by Gruffudd. The movie will center on his 18th century political career, which found him at odds with some of the most influential people of the time - including the King of England.

Apted gets Amazing
Philip Anschutz's Walden Media has set Michael Apted to direct Amazing Grace, a political thriller with a screenplay by Steven Knight. The movie is based on the true story of British anti-slavery crusader William Wilberforce, and centers on his efforts in the 18th century British parliament to end both slavery and the slave trade in the Empire. He was able to successfully put together a coalition that went against some of the most powerful men of the time.
