Samuel Goldwyn goes to Charm School
Samuel Goldwyn Films is set to distribute Marilyn Hotchkiss Ballroom Dancing & Charm School in North America. The movie from writer/director Randall Miller had its world premiere at Sundance and stars Robert Carlyle, Marisa Tomei, John Goodman, Mary Steenburgen, Sean Astin, Donnie Wahlberg and Dannie DeVito. It's based on a short film that Miller created with his wife, Jody Savin, 15 years ago.
The movie centers on a baker (Carlyle) who sees a car wreck and finds that a driver in the wreck is barely alive. The rescuer is told to keep the injured man talking until the ambulance is able to arrive, and hears the stranger's story in flashbacks. As it happens, the victim was on his way to try to rekindle a failed romance that has left him haunted for 40 years.
Other supporting cast members include David Paymer, Adam Arkin, Sonia Braga, Ernie Hudson, Miguel Sandoval, Elden Henson and Camryn Manheim. The distributor is looking for a late summer theatrical debut.
