Alba Gets Good Luck
Jessica Alba will join comedian Dane Cook in Good Luck Chuck. Cook will play a man who gains a reputation that all of his ex-girlfriends will marry the next man they date. So when he meets his true love (Alba), he tries to find a way to keep her. Mark Helfrich directs from a script by Josh Stolberg.

Lionsgate decides to re-up Chuck.
New Line might have decided Good Luck Chuck wasn't for them, but Lionsgate feels the project might be for everyone else. They are in negotiations to take the project out of turnaround while keeping the same lead actor (Dane Cook), director (Mark Helfrich) and Josh Stolberg script already in place. Hollywood Reporter indicates that New Line gave up on the project after struggling to cast the female lead. Lionsgate is looking at such notables as Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel.

Helfrich to make directing debut with Good Luck, Chuck
New Line has hired Mark Helfrich, who has edited various films for Brett Ratner, will make his directing debut on the comedy Good Luck, Chuck. Josh Stolberg wrote the screenplay, and Helfrich will work to polish the script for shooting condition. The movie is based on the true story of a man who had a string of girlfriends who all married the very next man they dated after him.
