Larry Charles looking at Borat
Larry Charles is in talks to direct the mock documentary Borat for Twentieth Century Fox. The movie is based on a character from Sasha Baron Cohen's comedy series Da Ali G Show, a savant-like Kazakhstani TV journalist. Borat is a boorish character, whose bad behavior frequently results in misunderstandings and angry retribution from others.
At one point, Todd Philips (Old School) had been at the helm of the project, but left due to creative differences with Cohen.

Clash on set of Borat
A creative clash between director Todd Phillips (Old School) and Ali G's Sacha Baron Cohen has caused Phillips to drop off the project. The documentary-style comedy centers on a Khazakstani immigrant who comes to the U.S. with a mission. The producers of the film plan to hire a new director and get filming back under way as quickly as possible.
