Actors Sign on for Despereaux
Universal has hired a number of leading actors to voice charactes in animated film The Tale of Despereaux. On board are: Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Kline, William H. Macy, Stanley Tucci, Sigourney Weaver, Robbie Coltrane, Ciaran Hinds, Christopher Lloyd, Justin Long and Tracey Ullman. The story is an adptation of Kate DiCamillo's award-winning children's book about a mouse's quest to change a kingdom forever.

New Director for Despereaux
The animated film The Tale of Despereaux has a new director. Mike Johnson, who worked with Tim Burton on the Corpse Bride, will replace Sylvain Chomet. Chomet left over difficulties with simultaneonsly trying to work on another animated project, but did begin early work on the animated mouse tale.

Writers hired for Tale of Despereaux
Will McRobb and Chris Viscardi have been hired to write the feature film adaptation of the Newberry Award winning novel The Tale of Despereaux for Universal. Sylvain Chomet (Triplets of Belleville) will direct the story, which came from the mind of Kate DiCamillo. She was also the author of Because of Winn-Dixie, which has been adapted to feature film form as well.
The story centers around a mouse named Despereaux Tilling, who loves music, stories and a princess named Pea. He joins a pair of other characters - a rat named Roscuro who lives in darkness but wishes to dwell in the light, and Miggery Sow, a girl with a simple but impossibke dream. They all set off on an amazing journey together.
