Biel and Sewell join cast of Illusionist

Jessica Biel and Rufus Sewell will join Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti in writer-director Neil Burger's The Illusionist, a $17 million turn-of-the-century drama. The adaptation of the Steven Millhauser short story Eisenheim the Illusionist takes place in 1900 Vienna. A magician from the streets (Norton) uses his dark arts to win away Princess Sophie (Biel) from the crown prince (Sewell). The magician and historian Ricky Jay is a consultant on the movie.

Giamatti is an Illusionist

Paul Giamatti is set to star opposite Ed Norton in The Illusionist for director Neil Burger, who adapted the screenplay from Steven Millhauser's short story Eisenheim the Illusionist. The movie centers on a magician in turn-of-the-20th-century Vienna who falls in love with a woman. When she is engaged to a prince, he uses his powers to woo her back and undermine the very core of the royal house of Vienna.

Edward Norton is the Illusionist

Edward Norton is set to play the lead role in director Neil Burger’s The Illusionist, based on a short story by Steven Millhauser called Eisenheim the Illusionist. Norton will play a magician who lives in Vienna at the turn of the 20th century. He falls in love with a woman well out of his reach with regards to social status. When the object of his affection gets engaged to a prince, the illusionist uses his magical powers to win her back, undermining the stability of the royal house.
