Reilly's a Freak show
Production is scheduled to begin in February on Cirque du Freak, Universal's adaptation of a children's book series by Darren Shan. John C. Reilly, Josh Hutcherson and Chris Kelly are in negotiations to star in the film, which follows two friends who see an illegal freak show that makes them make life-changing choices. Paul Weitz will direct.

Universal goes to the Cirque
Universal has picked up screen rights to the bestselling children’s book series Cirque du Freak, written by Darren Shan. The series so far is comprised of a dozen books, and centers on a boy who goes to an illegal freak show. By the time it’s all over, he’s agreed to serve as assistant to a vampire in order to save his best friend’s life. Brian Helgeland will write the screenplay.
