Cast joins The Reaping
David Morrissey (Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction) and The Wire's Idris Elba have signed to star in The Reaping alongside Hilary Swank. Warner Bros. will distribute the Dark Castle/Chime Films project, which will have Swank playing a university professor who debunks miracles. She is summoned to a small Louisiana town to investigate some strange occurrences that seem to be related to the ten biblical plagues. She starts to fall for Morrissey's character, but soon learns that he is not exactly as he appears.

Swank goes to The Reaping
Hilary Swank is in talks to star in Dark Castle Entertainment's latest entry into the horror field, The Reaping. James Cox is directing from a script by Chad and Carey Hayes. The story centers on a myth debunker (Swank) who travels to a small Texas town to investigate what appears to be a series of prophetic Biblical plagues.

Cox gets The Reaping
Warner Bros Pictures and Dark Castle, the horror film production company headed up by Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis, have set James Cox (Wonderland) to direct the supernatural thriller The Reaping. The story is based on a spec script by Brian Rousso, with a rewrite by Chad & Carey Hayes. It revolves around a woman who debunks religious phenomena and her arrival in a small town. Productions from Dark Castle so far have included Gothika, Ghost Ship, The House on Haunted Hill, Thir13en Ghosts, and the upcoming House of Wax.
