Another Smith pursues Happyness
Jaden Smith, the seven-year-old son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, will make his screen starring debut in The Pursuit of Happyness for Columbia Pictures. He'll play his real-life father's son in the movie, which is being directed by Gabrielle Muccino. Based on a screenplay by Steve Conrad, the movie will have Will Smith playing a marginally employed salesman who obtains custody of his son just as he is entering a stock brokerage intern program. The two must live in shelters for a period of time to make ends meet. Shooting is set to begin immediately.

Newton pursues Happyness
Thandie Newton is set to star alongside Will Smith in Columbia Pictures' The Pursuit of Happyness. Gabriele Muccino is directing the film, which is based on a screenplay by Steve Conrad. In the movie, Smith portrays a barely employed salesman who gets custody of his son at the same time that he gets the opportunity to participate in a stock brokerage internship program. While in that program, he and the boy have to live in a homeless shelter and go through several difficulties as they try to find success. Newton will play Smith's estranged wife.

Gabriele Muccino, who directed The Last Kiss, is set to helm The Pursuit of Happyness, starring Will Smith. Based on the true rags-to-riches story of Chicago investment banker Chris Gardner, the movie will see Smith go from homeless man to working his way up through a brokerage firm to become a billionaire. The screenplay was written by Steve Conrad.

Will Smith goes on Pursuit of Happiness
Will Smith is set to star in Pursuit of Happiness for Columbia Pictures. Based on the true story of investment banker Chris Gardner's rags-to-riches tale, it centers on a 30-year-old man who was left both jobless and homeless at the age of 30. Despite the fact that he and his baby son were forced to live in the bathroom of a San Francisco train station, he eventually was able to get a job as a trainee and rose through the ranks of various brokerage firms to eventually become partner and owner of his own firm. The screenplay was written by Steve Conrad (The Weather Man).
