Tartan goes to Milwaukee
Tartan Films USA has picked up North American distribution rights to Milwaukee, Minnesota, which has won numerous festival awards. Prizes include the Young Critics Award at the Festival de Cannes, the Premiere Magazine Audience Award at the Deauville Film Festival and the New American Cinema Award at the Seattle Film Festival. The film stars Randy Quaid, Bruce Dern, Troy Garity, Debra Monk, Alison Folland and Hank Harris in the story of a young man who is perceived to be mentally disabled. When an unidentified automobile kills his mother, he is forced to take care of himself, but soon finds he is the target of two con artists who are out to steal his money in separate scams. The film is directed by Allan Mindel and is planned for a May release.
