Gong Li signs on for Miami Vice
Chinese film star Gong Li has signed on for the female lead in the Michael Mann-directed Miami Vice for Universal Pictures. She'll portray a criminal of Chinese/Cuban descent alongside Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell, who will have the primary roles of Tubbs and Crockett.

Universal's Miami Vice coming together
A theatrical adaptation of the '80s television hit Miami Vice is becoming a reality. Colin Farrell is the studio's target to star as Sonny Crockett, and they're already in discussions with Jamie Foxx for the Ricardo Tubbs role. On the show, those parts were played by Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas.
The really stellar news for the project, though, is that Michael Mann, who executive produced the television series, is in talks to produce, direct and write the screenplay. In the years since working on Vice, Mann has directed such greats as Heat, The Insider and the recent Collateral.
The original series ran on NBC from 1984 to 1989.
