Russell gets a Rush

Keri Russell will star alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers in August Rush, a drama being handled by Warner Bros. Kristen Sheridan is directing the story about a young musical prodigy named August Rush. He performs on the streets to try to find the parents he was separated from after birth. Highmore will play rush, and Robin Williams will portray his mentor. Music will have a critical role in the film, and is being scored by Mark Mancina. The theme is being co-written by Hans Zimmer and Mancina.

Warner Bros. has an August Rush

Warner Bros. has picked up the distribution rights to August Rush, Kirsten Sheridan's upcoming fantasy/love story. Currently in talks for the cast are Freddie Highmore (Finding Neverland), Robin Williams and Liv Tyler. The movie is set in Central Park and tells the story of a boy who has lost his parents and sets out on a magical - and musical - journey to try to find them. Richard B. Lewis co-wrote the screenplay with Nick Castle, Jim Hart and Sheridan.

Sheridan to direct August Rush

Kirsten Sheridan, daughter of Jim Sheridan and recent Academy Award nominee for screenplay, has signed with Richard Lewis' Southpaw Entertainment to direct August Rush. The film is based on an idea from Lewis and is a modern-day fairy tale about a musical prodigy who is also an orphan. He attempts to find his real parents through their shared musical gifts. Lewis came up with the concept when his wife gave birth to his son, who has a natural affinity for music.
