Hatcher Doubles Up in Coraline
Teri Hatcher will provide the voice for a dual role in Coraline, an animated tale starring Dakota Fanning. She will play the mother of Fanning's title character, as well as her other mother in an alternate universe. In the story, the young girl finds the alternate world, which appears to be much better than her real world. But her alternate parents try to keep her there forever, and so she must escape and try to make a dangerous journey to get home. Focus Features has worldwide distribution rights to the film, which will feature songs by musical group They Might be Giants.

Fanning is Coraline
Dakota Fanning is set to provide the main voice in Coraline, an adaptation of the children's novel by Neil Gaiman. Henry Selick is writing and directing the stop-motion animation film for Laika Studios. The movie will look at a young girl named Coraline who encounters an alternate version of her life after walking through a door in her new home. At first glance, this new place seems better, but things become dangerous when the alternate family wants to keep her.

Vinton Studios gets rights to Coraline
Vinton Studios, the animation studio perhaps most famous for the creation of the California Raisins, has acquired the rights to the marvelously dark children's novel Coraline by Neil Gaiman. Gaiman won the Hugo Award for the best-selling book, which tells the story of a bored little girl named Coraline who finds a bricked-up wall in her home that leads to another world where she has a different mother and father. Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas) is set to direct.
