Voight Will be Transformed
The cast of the Transformers live-action movie is beginning to take form. Jon Voight has signed on, joining already announced Travis Van Winkle and Shia LeBeouf.

Transformers goes to 2007
DreamWorks has announced that they will release their live-action adaptation of the Hasbro franchise The Transformers on the Fourth of July weekend in 2007. The movie will be directed by Michael Bay from a screenplay by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. Steven Spielberg is executive producing.

Bay looks to Transformers
DreamWorks is in negotiations with Michael Bay to direct The Transformers, a live-action film to be executive produced by Steven Spielberg. The movie, based on the "robots in disguise" that have become popular through various lines of toys, animated television series, and animated films, will have a screenplay by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci that is expected to be completed very shortly.
Earlier, there was a screenplay for the film by John Rogers, who was also expected to direct, but that has been thrown out now.

Rogers goes for robots in disguise
John Rogers (Catwoman) will write the screenplay for Transformers for DreamWorks/Paramount. It's a live-action version of the robots-in-disguise cartoon/action figures saga and set for a Summer 2006 release. DreamWorks is hoping the property will develop into a franchise.

DreamWorks has robots in disguise
DreamWorks will team with Paramount and toymaker Hasbro to develop a live-action/CGI movie based on the Transformers, the robo-car/truck/plane/tank toys that wrought a comic book series, a television show, and an animated film in the 1980s. The toys are surging in popularity again, so Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks see a terrific opportunity at hand. Spielberg will be an executive producer on the film, in fact.
