Forster flies a Kite
Marc Forster has signed on to direct The Kite Runner for DreamWorks. An adaptation of the Khaled Hosseini novel, the adaptation was written by David Benioff. The movie looks at a man who returns to his native Afghanistan that is under Taliban rule. The man is hoping to right a past wrong and also to rescue the child of a friend. At one point, Sam Mendes was attached as director.

Khaled Hosseini's The Kite Runner goes to big screen
David Benioff, screenwriter for Troy, is in final negotiations to adapt the popular Khaled Hosseini novel The Kite Runner for DreamWorks. Academy Award winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty) is already set to direct.
The book tells the story of a man who experiences his childhood in California, but in his adult years must return to his native Afghanistan to rescue the son of a childhood friend and to correct a wrong that has been hanging in the back of his mind for many years.
