Fanning aboard Dreamer
DreamWorks has signed Dakota Fanning to star alongside Kurt Russell in the father-daughter story Dreamer. Though the movie had initially been developed as a tale about a father and son, the writers will transform the story to feature a daughter instead. Described as a cross between Seabiscuit and The Horse Whisperer, the movie centers around a Kentucky horse trainer and his 11-year-old daughter. The pair rescues a horse with a broken leg and nurse it back to health, eventually racing it in the Breeder's Cup. John Gatins will make his feature film debut as director.
Production will begin on September 14th and will take place in Lexington, Kentucky and Covington, Louisiana. Along with Russell and Fanning, Freddy Rodriguez will also be featured as a former jockey who befriends the youngster and finds himself inspired to make positive changes in his own life.
