Red Sox win means changes for Fever Pitch
Because the Boston Red Sox won the World Series this week, a script rewrite of Fox 2000's Fever Pitch has been put into the works. The story was actually set during the 2004 season, and the ending of the film has been changed (the Hollywood Reporter directly lists the ending; however, we'll keep the news spoiler-free).

Two more have a Fever Pitch
KaDee Strickland (Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid) and Ione Skye (Say Anything…) have signed on for the Fox film Fever Pitch. Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon are already set to star. The Farrelly brothers are set to direct the project, which is based on a novel by British author Nick Hornby. That book, a semi-autobiography and soccer treatise, was previously adapted by the author to an underappreciated film starring Colin Firth. The American remake will be adapted by Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel to center on baseball instead of soccer. The story centers around Fallon, a Boston Red Sox obsessive, and his girlfriend (Barrymore) who is caught in the center of his fandom. Strickland and Skye will play Barrymore's best friends.

Fallon, Farrellys to take on Americanized Fever Pitch
Nick Hornby's semi-autobiographical novel Fever Pitch will be adapted a second time. The first film, which starred Colin Firth as a totally devoted fan of the Arsenal soccer team, has been Americanized to be about a baseball enthusiast instead. The film will star SNL alum Jimmy Fallon, with Drew Barrymore onboard as the female love interest. The Farrelly Brothers are currently in talks to direct the movie, with a screenplay from comedy team Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel.
