Malkovich has title role in Klimt
John Malkovich has signed on to play Austrian artist Gustav Klimt, whose opulent and erotic paintings became the standard for the art nouveau style of the late 19th and early 20th century. Klimt will mark the third time Malkovich has worked with director Raoul Ruiz. The pair previously collaborated on Le Temps Retrouvé, a film based on Marcel Proust's autobiographical opus Remembrance of Things Past, and Savage Souls, a French romantic drama.
France's Laetitia Casta, who also appeared in Savage Souls, and German actors Veronica Ferres and Otto Sander will be featured in supporting roles. Klimt will begin principal photography in September.
