Spielberg project gets a title

Despite the fact that the production of his upcoming film is in complete lockdown, Variety is reporting that Steven Spielberg's planned December release will be titled "Munich". The movie will center on the secret Israeli plan to assassinate the Palestinian terrorists who headed up the massacre of Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics in 1972.

Kassovitz goes to Munich

Mathieu Kassovitz (Amelie) has signed on to star in Steven Spielberg's upcoming film about the tragedy at the 1972 Munich Olympics. He'll join a cast that includes Eric Bana, Daniel Craig and Geoffrey Rush.

Rush joins Spielberg project

Geoffrey Rush is set to star alongside Eric Bana and Daniel Craig in Steven Spielberg's currently untitled film about the terrorist situation at the 1972 Munich Olympics. The movie will begin shooting in July, with a planned release date of December 23rd this year. The movie will take place in the aftermath of the Munich Olympics, when members of the Israeli team were held hostage by Palestinian extremists and killed. Rush's role is being kept secret at this point.

Steven Spielberg's movie about the massacre at the 1972 Olympics in Munich has been put on the fast track. It will go before cameras during the summer, with a December 23, 2005 release date targeted. Spielberg had earlier postponed the project and started work on War of the Worlds.

Kushner set to rewrite Munich Olympics tale

Steven Spielberg has selected Tony Kushner, playwright of Angels in America, to rewrite the untitled drama set in the aftermath of the 1972 Olympics in Munich. Spielberg is set to direct the drama, which centers around events that occurred when members of the Israeli team were held hostage and subsequently murdered by Palestinian extremists. Thus far, Spielberg has been unsatisfied with scripts that have been turned in, and has pushed the start of production back to 2005. Eric Bana is still attached to star in the joint Universal/DreamWorks project.
