IFC Films gets Manderlay
IFC Films has acquired North American distribution rights to Lars Von Trier's Manderlay, his second film in his USA - Land of Opportunities trilogy. The film created controversy when it was released in Cannes, as a number of people had strong reactions to its way of dealing with the subject of race relations in the U.S. The movie follows Grace, who was originally portrayed by Nicole Kidman but is now being played by Bryce Dallas Howard, as she leaves the town of Dogville and goes to Alabama, where she comes across slaves on a plantation who should have been allowed to go free 70 years earlier. Along with Howard, Willem Dafoe, Danny Glover, Chloe Sevigny and Lauren Bacall star.
