Soccer stars score Goal!

International soccer stars David Beckham, Zinedine and Raul have all signed to play themselves the $100 million trilogy Goal!, which is being directed by Danny Cannon. The film stars Diego Luna as a soccer phenomenon from East L.A. whose abilities take him from the barrio up through the professional ranks. Eventually, he gets a contract with Newcastle United. The screenplay was written by Mike Jefferies and Adrian Butcher, with a polish from Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais. Shooting will begin in January.

Cannon makes a Goal!

Danny Cannon, who is currently working as executive producer for all of the CBS CSI television series, is making his way back to the big screen to direct Goal! for Icon Entertainment. The film is based on a screenplay by Mike Jefferies and Adrian Butchart and is set to star Diego Luna (Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, The Terminal). Goal! is slated to be the first film in a $100 million trilogy about a young Latino from East L.A. who works through the various leagues to become an international soccer star. Thus far, the project already has more than $150 million in marketing support from companies such as Adidas, Coca-Cola, T-Mobile and Philips. Cannon's previous directing credits include Judge Dredd, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and The Young Americans. He's the second director
