Director/screenwriter Jae-eun Jeong makes her feature-film debut in both roles with this Korean coming-of-age story. The movie is set in the grungy port city of Inchon. The setting adds to the gritty portrayal of the characters' lives. Our story is about five Korean women who have recently graduated from high school. As happens to many friends, they try to stay in close touch, but they slowly begin to drift apart into their own lives. They use their cell phones to keep their friendship alive, but it has limited effectiveness. The way the audience keeps track of the friends is by following the activities of Tee Tee, a cat that enters each of the friends' lives. This movie has been shown at quite a few film festivals and has been receiving quite a bit of praise from audiences and critics alike. It has also won quite a few awards. Be sure to check out this film if it comes to your local independent film venue. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
