A film that cost a paltry $50,000 to produce, Tadpole premiered in January, 2002 at the Sundance Film Festival, where director Gary Winick won Best Dramatic Director. Miramax paid $5 million for distribution rights and will release the film into theaters for a limited run.

Tadpole, which was shot using digital video, is a coming-of-age story about a precocious 15-year-old named Oscar Grubman (Aaron Stanford). Oscar comes from a family of academics and attends private school himself. He has a passion for Voltaire and can order restaurant meals in French.

Oscar is coming home for Thanksgiving with some big plans; he's going to pursue the love of his life. It just so happens that the object of his affection is many years older than Oscar, not to mention that she happens to be his stepmother.

Based on a screenplay written by Heather McGowan and Niels Mueller, Tadpole features Sigourney Weaver as Oscar's stepmother and a supporting cast that includes John Ritter, Bebe Neuwirth and Robert Iler (The Sopranos). The film is one of a number of digital productions from InDigEnt Entertainment, which had a hand in recent releases Tape and Final, as well as Sundance Dramatic Grand Jury Prize-winner Personal Velocity.
