Director Adrian Lyne continues his tradition of erotic films, which have included 9½ Weeks, Fatal Attraction, Indecent Proposal, and Lolita. This remake of the 1969 French film La Femme Infidele (The Unfaithful Woman) stars Richard Gere and Diane Lane as a couple struggling with the wife's infidelity.

One windy day in Manhattan, Connie Sumner (Lane) hurts herself and bumps into Paul Martel (Olivier Martinez), who offers to take care of her wounds. Of course, this leads to some steamy sex scenes. Connie starts making excuses about her whereabouts during the day. Connie's husband Ed (Gere) gets suspicious and hires a private investigator who confirms his worst fears.

Ed confronts Paul about the situation and ends up killing him. A sloppy murder clean-up follows. Connie finds out about the murder and is upset at first. However, she changes her feelings toward Ed and it brings them back together. She ends up helping Ed cover up his crime.

Richard Gere had a couple flops in 2000 with Dr. T and the Women and Autumn in New York. His last film, The Mothman Prophecies, had a strong $11.2 million opening. Hopefully, this film will continue this trend and bring him back as a box office draw, even if he's not in a film with Julia Roberts. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
