Director David Zucker (the Naked Gun movies, BASEketball, and co-director of Airplane!) gets to work with a lot of younger talent and up-and-comers in this comedy. Among the cast are Ashton Kutcher (TV's That '70s Show), Tara Reid, Andy Richter, and Molly Shannon.

The movie is about a young man (Kutcher) who is asked to housesit for his boss. He's had a crush on the boss's daughter (Reid) for a long time and uses this opportunity as a chance to get close to her and win her heart. But he doesn't plan on the long line of other houseguests that try to keep him from his mission. He also has to deal with the daughter's older brother (Richter), who is on the run from local drug dealers.

Dimension Films picked up this movie out of turnaround from New Line Cinema. Production just started on this film at the end of May 2001, so we should see it in theaters some time in 2002. (Marty Doskins/BOP)

August 19, 2003
This movie's release was originally scheduled for November 2002, then it was pushed back to February 2003. Studio honchos then had another change of heart and moved it back to late October 2002. Then when October 2002 rolled around, they completely panicked and moved the release yet again to late February 2003. Finally, in late January, Miramax changed the release date to August 22, where it sits today. (Whew. This is harder to keep track of than Winona Ryder's dating history.)

The plot details remain the same, although we now know that Terence Stamp (from The Limey) plays Ashton's egomanic boss/Tara Reid's father. And somehow were guessing that Michael Madsen will be the one playing the "gun-toting, maniacal drug-dealer" who is after Andy Richter. Just a hunch.

Since the time this movie was orignally made, Ashton Kutcher has risen from a minorly popular TV star on That 70's Show to become a full scale tabloid front fixture. Normally, this would help things out in the box office department considerably, but it remains an open question as to whether the growing Ashton backlash has trickled down to the MTV audience yet. Furthermore, *sing it along with me, kids*....."Frequent release date pushbacks indicate a lack of studio confidence." (Jennifer Turnock/BOP)
