31/48 Kim Hollis Fine performances make it worthwhile, especially Ryan Gosling.
32/34 Dan Krovich Two great actors. What were they doing in this dreck?
42/50 Michael Bentley "Thriller" with a mediocre plot, bad dialogue, and anticlamactic finish is propped up just slightly above TV movie because of the two leads.

Anthony Hopkins has been capitalizing on his influential, award-winning performance as Hannibal Lecter for some time now. After playing the cannibal serial killer in Silence of the Lambs, Hopkins was able to later add to his Lecter resume by portraying the villain in both Hannibal and Red Dragon. Since the franchise took a different direction this year by looking at the formative years of the murderer, Hopkins was left looking for something else to do. And so it is that he took on the role of a different killer in the thriller Fracture.

Hopkins portrays a structural engineer who has been charged with the murder of his wife (Embeth Davidtz). After he is found not guilty, the young district attorney (recent Academy Award nominee Ryan Gosling) who was charged with prosecuting him sets out on a crusade for justice. The pair become involved in a game of cat and mouse as they try to outwit each other.

In addition to Academy Award winner Hopkins and nominee Gosling, Fracture also features another Oscar nominee in David Strathairn. It's a film that will have appeal to a more mature audience segment, which means that it's likely to be a bigger hit on DVD than in theaters. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
